Social change.
Change of social is natural. The social changes occurred in all societies. Social change is may be favorable or unfavorable.
Social change is refers to the something is happens new. It is includes climate, session, political, education etc.
Definition of social change.
“Social change as any alterations as occurs in social organization that is the structure and functions of society”.
Barriers of social change.
The barriers of social change is includes-
- 1. Attitudes and values.
Every society or community people has their own attitudes and values. When these attitudes are apposed or contradictory to innovation. For example, the attitudes toward large family and preference to the male child has come in the way of the acceptance of family planning.
- 2. Vested interests.
Vested interests are refers to the something is taken threaten or illegally of other person. Most of the social changes carry a threat to some vested interests. The vested interest break down the belief, caste, family or society. For example – Rights threaten, land threaten etc.
- 3. Incompatibility with existing culture.
When the innovation are not match the existing culture then there in resistance. The innovations are arise conflicts with the existing culture. So, it is an important barrier.
- 4. Role of agent of change.
The innovations which are first adopted by persons with higher status or power. Whereas changes adopt by low status of people will not be easily acceptable.
- 5. Cost of change.
Some sentiments and values are destroy it involves some specific costs. Most of the innovations are require some modification. But in the modification may require costs.
- 6. Demonstrability of innovations.
Some innovations are quickly accepted because it very usefulness. Some social change can not be easily demonstrated. When demonstrability of innovations are difficult to people show resistance.
