Caste system.
The word “caste” is derived from the Spanish word “Casta” which means bread, race or a complex of hereditary qualities. The term caste is famous in India known by the name of “Jati”. The English word caste is an adjustment of the original term.
Definition of caste.
When a class is some what strictly hereditary we may call it as caste.
Caste status is wholly predetermined so that men are born to their lot without any hope of changing it, then class takes the extreme form of caste.

The society is divided into various caste system. Some caste is determine by the birth. Born is determine by the caste system like, some people are born in Hindu caste system. And some are Muslim caste system and others.
- 1. Hierarchy of status.
Every caste system has their ranking status. Some castes are top ranker high status and some caste are below top ranker and some caste are down. The Brahmins in India at the top of the social leader.
- 2. Social security.
Caste system is provide social security to the individual. It is a bonding people where they have common interests and common behavior. It controls social system.
- 3.Cultural security.
It is provide us cultural security. Every caste has their own roles and regulations and values. One caste people doesn’t marry other caste people.
- 4. Social and religious disabilities.
A community is includes caste and religious people. The lower caste people are suffering from social and religious disabilities.
- 5. Co-operation.
Cooperation is increasing among the members. There is a sense we feeling among the members of the caste. Because the cooperation is automatically develop.
- 6. Racial purity.
Caste system maintain the social purity by prohibiting inter caste marriages.
Demerits of caste system.
- 1. Social disunity.
In a community has various caste system. The higher caste system members are not respect the lower caste members. Some people are not give value to the other person.
- 2. Hindrance of national unity.
Caste system is against national unity. The higher castes are not feel that they in nation.
- 3. Social conversation.
Due to the upper caste people some lower caste people are changes their caste into Islam and Christianity.
- 4. Democratic.
It against democratic because the caste system makes in inequality. The democratic believes in all human equal.
